Inception
Øyvind Rideng was a serial IT entrepreneur from Norway, wanted to do something differentin his life, namely try to build some business in Africa. This passion stemmed from when he as an 18 year old went to Mombasa, Kenya on a school trip and fell in love with the continent, but at the same time saw so many business opportunities. in 2015 he asked ToneFaugli that had 10 years experience from Red Cross to support him. She suggested Frøydis D. Archer should join the team. Frøydis had recently moved back to Norway after having worked in 3 different countries in Africa for nearly two decades. So the 3 founding team was formed!Our Story
TechBridge Challenges
The first TechBridge Challenge was held in February 2016, where we collaborated with the Technical University of Mombasa to recruit young entrepreneurs with tech business ideas.Øyvind had a particular interest in hardware electronics and mobile payment, seeing the potential this could have to do Pay-As-You-Go energy services. During the first three years 3TechBridge Challenges were held, the curriculum improved every year with Business model canvas, financial and marketing training. 3 best business ideas got cash prices. Some of the participants where offered employment in the newly formed SUNAMI SOLAR, to do progamming for PAYGO software and do marketing for an off-grid solar home system. InNovember 2017 SUNAMI SOLAR numbered 15 employees and we had already upskilled about 100 youth in entrepreneurship through regular Techbridge Challenges .

TechBridge Invest aims to create sustainable businesses and job opportunities in East Africa.Through our programmes, we offer curated venture building support and investment to innovative tech-oriented entrepreneurs enabling them to turn day-to-day challenges into business opportunities. The Incubator offers a proven approach to building and launching a business. Our Incubation Programme supports emerging founders from the prototype level through their first pilot customers by ensuring they achieve a problem-solution fit.
Acceleration
The TechBridge Accelerator is designed for high-impact and high-growth companies that are addressing Africa's pressing problems and shaping its future. We prepare these companies for growth by providing them with the necessary knowledge, support for product-market fit, and readiness for investment.
